Johnny is an artist, photographer, founder and researcher focusing on the topic of inequality. His ongoing aerial photography project, Unequal Scenes, chronicles inequality by photographing the world's most divided cities. This project has been supported by institutions, published on the cover of Time magazine, and exhibited worldwide. He is currently collaborating with several academic institutions such as the London School of Economics and Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin, researching and visualizing the links between environment, economics and health.

He is also co-founder (together with Code For Africa) of africanDRONE, a pan-African drone network bringing together drone users "for good". It currently has over 1200 verified pilots in network across 37 countries in Africa, several free MOOCs, periodic drone camps and training opportunities, and grants. In 2026 Johnny led the development of World Drone Map, a comprehensive online resource for drone regulations and contacts.

He is an Atlantic Fellow for Social and Economic Equity, a BMW Responsible Leader, Senior Fellow at Code For Africa, UN Champion and Gates Foundation Goalkeeper. He regularly participates in Fellowships, forums, and conferences and has guest-lectured at universities like Cornell, Syracuse, University of Richmond, and the University of Cape Town. Johnny also directs, produces and edits films and photo campaigns for worldwide partners through his production company, Millefoto.

His artwork is represented by Buchkunst Berlin and in the collection of several museums and many private collectors, with regular exhibitions, press and speaking events. The book "Unequal Scenes" is in pre-production and will be available from October 2026.
